Do It Yourself: “The Fountain Remixed”

By: Rustycat | in: Movies, Music |

A while back I was surfing the net and stumbled upon the “Nine Inch Nails” web site. Quick tour and I discovered that their – back then – new single, “Only” is available not only for download but for remix. They actually let you download all the tracks separately so you can practice your music remixing skills.
Coolest idea a music fan can come by.
The Fountain

Well, this time around Clint Mansell, “The Fountain’s” music composer, has donated the movie’s soundtrack single “Stay with Me” for download in multi tracks. But it gets better, now you can remix the song and make a video clip from the movie’s screenshots and video promos. Unlike The Nine Inch Nails version, after you’ve finished editing and mixing, you can upload and share your video clip with the world.
Ten points for effort. I think “The Fountain” is a great example of user-movie interaction, which, in my opinion is the future of cinema and television. Today it’s a video clip; tomorrow you’re part of the production.
Welcome to the jungle.
