Murder Inc: Who Do You Want On The Case?

By: Rustycat | in: TV |

Let’s say, for hypothetical reasons, you’ve been murdered. Now, who would you really want on the case?

I’ve decided to take the detective’s seat in this ongoing investigation to find the perfect TV detective for the job or better yet, the perfect TV show ever.

 24

24
Jack is back, and he’s on Fayyad’s case, searching for the missing four nukes. 24 have made it to their sixth season to date, and not only have they done a great job thrilling the hell out of us, they’ve also managed to pick up many awards, kill dozens of terrorists and breaks a few couples up in the process.
Pros: It’s Jack Bauer for crying out loud, he’s relentless and will probably shred your killer to pieces in 24 hours.
Cons: He will kill everyone you ever cared about in the process

Veronica Mars

Veronica Mars
It seems like the general plot for the third season has gone missing, and the crew needs a detective themselves. For now, we’ll settle for the dean’s murderer and maybe a few teen love stories.
Pros: You’re in for a lot of witty sarcastic remarks on your behalf and you’ll have a great soundtrack on your eulogy.
Cons: You’ll be remembered for the hot blonde looking into your case.

Psych

Psych
Remember the guy helping President Bartlet on the West Wing - Charlie? Well he’s kind of a detective now, helping his troubled friend who thinks he’s a psychic. Talk about a downgrade.
Pros: They’re fun and one of them might actually have psychic powers.
Cons: They’re too much fun. Get with the program; you’re not on Medium.

Criminal Minds

Criminal Minds
Finally, here’s a group of serious FBI agents. “The Behavioral Analysis Unit is composed of an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country’s most twisted criminal minds and anticipate their next moves.” hmmm, sounds promising.
Pros: These guys are the real thing. Gideon, usually, leads them to success.
Cons: They’re too serious and if the killer is dumb, they’ll probably lose interest and drop the case.

NCIS

NCIS
An elite team of navy officers investigating the most sophisticated murders in the army’s history. All this, while adding witty comments and a colorful arrangement of characters in the process.
Pros: Who knows you might be murdered in the navy, it’s always good to have back up.
Cons: Considering where JAG ended up I wouldn’t put all my cards in their hand.

Heroes

Heroes -
Our new genetically superior friends have an actual cop in their midst.
Pros: Matt Parkman can read peoples’ minds.
Cons: Unable to pass his detective’s exam. By the time he solves the case, the Haitian guy is likely to erase his memory.

CSI Miami

CSI Miami
David Caruso leads the team of criminal investigation lab rats through five seasons and hundreds of cases. And with the help of the New York and Vegas branches, you bet your ass they’ll be thorough.
Pros: They’re pros. It’s not a simple case of whodunit, it’s a deep understanding of howdunit.
Cons: David Caruso looks like he’s about to commit suicide any minute now.

Prison Break

Prison Break -
The third season sees Agent Alexander Mahone hot on the trail of Scofield and Burrows. Somehow our two fugitives always seem to get the better of him.
Pros: He will travel through land sea and air to catch his guy. Your murderer will end up dead and buried in his back yard.
Cons: Too many people pulling his strings. Too many hidden agendas.

Shield

The Shield
Vic Mackey and the guys are returning for the sixth season on March 12th. Accompanied by Oscar nominee, Forrest Whitaker, they plan to solve detective Lem’s murder (it was one of them who killed him).
Pros: They’re pretty aggressive and won’t stop at anything to get the job done.
Cons: I think they’ve proven to be the dirtiest cops on the planet.

I can interview many more candidates for the job, but I think the answer is pretty obvious. It’s been circling our minds for quite some time now. To know that detectives of this stature even exist is comforting enough. Not only will they find your killer they will also give you the full service by prosecuting him.
Only one team can provide you with this level of service. They’ve been solving crimes for 17 consecutive seasons with a Special Victims Unit, Criminal Intent branch and a grand jury team in Trial by Jury.
Say hello to the most successful franchise in television history – Law & Order.

Law and Order

With all the visual theatrics from the best of the best on other TV shows, the guys from Law & Order are my personal, and apparently Americas, choice.

Here’s a challenge – we, at The Plugg, encourage anyone who wants to be a great writer someday to submit an article about finding the best fake TV lawyer or better yet - doctor!

    What about Monk??
I would go with either Monk or Pysch.

  2. antibarbie on February 7th, 2007 9:07 am

grissom from CSI Vegas. and sorry, David Caruso couldn’t find his ass without a gps….

  3. DixieBoy on February 7th, 2007 10:42 am

Forget all these new guys. You need to go back to the early days. I would want Columbo on the case. He solved the case without these high tech gadgets. He used common sense, and a personality that would make every criminal think he wasn’t nearly as smart as he was. He always followed the smallest lead and stuck to his gut.

  4. Charbarred on February 7th, 2007 10:58 am

What about the woman from Murder She Wrote?
Pros: She’ll badger all your relatives until they give up the murderer.
Cons: She might die of old age before the case is solved.

  5. Mare on February 7th, 2007 11:08 am

I’d go for CSI Vegas also or Jordan Cavanaugh (Crossing Jordan). I can’t stand Carusso either and wouldn’t WANT him trying to solve my case. I’d also go for the feds on Without A Trace… can’t stand Monk or Psych. Yuck.

  6. Mari on February 7th, 2007 11:26 am

I’d want Gil Grissom or Columbo. And as for NCIS, they’re my fave show, so I have to defend the blurb: They’re not Naval Officers; The Army has it’s own investigative people, NCIS has nothing to do w/ the Army and JAG had a great 10 year run. So, I guess I’d be OK w/ Gibbs & his team on my murder case!

  7. random answerer on February 7th, 2007 11:49 am

i would say either monk, psych or CSI las vegas. all the other ones cant do anything

  8. Hollis on February 7th, 2007 1:51 pm

Gil and only Gil….I wouldn’t trust anyone else!!!

  9. Spici on February 7th, 2007 3:00 pm

    Law & Order CI

  10. NIKKI on February 7th, 2007 3:10 pm

    PERRY MASON - ONLY

  11. Captain Francis on February 7th, 2007 5:13 pm

I’d want Lieutenant Columbo on the case. Not only would he solve it, he would drive the perp crazy in the process.

  12. psytrance dj on February 7th, 2007 5:54 pm

    Inspector gadget!

  13. Jay on February 7th, 2007 8:35 pm

CSI, hands down. Any of them really, but if I had the ultimate choice I’d go with the guys in Vegas.

  14. vonde6 on February 7th, 2007 9:30 pm

Absolutely, Columbo. I see we have other fans here, but he was the opposite of cool 30 years ago, and he would still play well today.

  15. Walt on February 8th, 2007 2:00 am

Your all wrong. The only way to go is with The Closer, Kyra (Ms Johnson)Sedgewick.

  16. maandy511arg on February 8th, 2007 2:58 am

    Columbo

  17. Caption Planet on February 9th, 2007 3:51 pm

Why is Monk not on here? Psych is on here, and that’s terrible show.

  18. SR on February 11th, 2007 6:09 pm

the people from bones would be interesting…

  19. Emile on February 12th, 2007 5:28 pm

What about Tru Davis. I’d like her to be on my murder case, so that I will still be alive at the end of the day.
But if that doesn’t count…I guess I would feel safest with either Gibbs and his team or Colombo. And when the perp is caught but manages to bribe the justice system, call in Mr. Chapel (Vengeance Unlimited for those who don’t know) to deal with him, that’ll be fun to watch from above.

  20. rach on February 17th, 2007 4:31 am

    NCIS. without a doubt, NCIS.

  21. Mad Holman on February 20th, 2007 2:21 am

I would want without doubt this:1.Columbo as the first,he has everything what ingenious detective needs, really everything on highest level. Then i would want either 2.-3.Sherlock Holmes or Adrian Monk, they are both pretty match for Columbo, but they are not so covered by seemingly stupidness,so they are not so much underestamated like Columbo. Then i would want 4.Hercule Poirot he is also really amazing!!And then?Perhaps CSI Las Vegas.

  22. DiNozzo on February 21st, 2007 4:56 pm

    NCIS all the way!

  23. Kristine on March 9th, 2007 5:10 am

I’ll go for Law and order or CSI but not with the people of Miami instead with Las Vegas (preferably) or New York…

  24. Tom on March 20th, 2007 1:27 pm

I would want Frank Pembleton from HLOTS no doubt.

or secondly, anyone who has Huggy Bear as a current informant.

  25. Al on March 28th, 2007 5:54 am

Definitely NCIS! I have no doubt they would catch the killer. Also, Gibbs would probably end up shooting or at least beating the killer’s a#% when he/she was caught. Bonus in my book.

  26. wojo on March 28th, 2007 8:28 pm

Psych, then NCIS, heroes guy, Law and order, then everyone else

  27. wyldrein on March 29th, 2007 9:37 am

NCIS’s team would be my choice. as Al says, Gibbs would kick the killer’s butt bigtime or tap him twice in the heart. Saves on all those expensive, lengthy trials and incarcerations at Club Fed.

The Criminal Minds team would be second string–a first rate second string, mind you.

These programs have stayed fresh, probably because they haven’t spunoff into Army CID (hey, the acronym for that show would be ACID, kinda scary) or
Criminal MInds Who Are Really Nice People Having Bad Days. The CSI franchise is tired, tired, tired, especially HandsonHips Horatio.

  28. Mhac on March 30th, 2007 5:29 am

If my remains were just bones, i would want seeley booth and temperence brennen on my case.

if i were recently deceased, i would want the NCIS team on the case. Gibbs and Abby are a great team. the interrogation techniques would be awesome to see then the beat down would be an added plus hopefully with Fornell there to add a helping hand.

As for the crime lab to take evidence, i would entrust that to the CSI Vegas team. Gil would and unbiased leader who would get the job done. When it come to ballistics though, no one but Ms Ducaquene (hope i got that right) from CSI Miami.

I wouldn’t want Monk there, he would constantly touch my stuff and arrange my things which would suck. The team from Psych would be just messing around i don’t want that when i want my killer caught.

  29. jcmjagfan on May 1st, 2007 10:32 pm

    I’m Greedy:
I want FBI Agent Fornell to serve as liason between their Behavior Analyisis Unit (aka Criminal Minds) and the NCIS. Gideon & Gibbs would be great together. . .
I’d love to see the look on Reed’s face when he meets Abby!!! and I bet they’d get along great.

  30. christof on May 3rd, 2007 12:47 pm

the one and only, rock em sockem ROCKFORD

  31. JLanceBaker on May 21st, 2007 8:21 pm

    Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Period.
And jcmjagfan, I too would love to see the look on Reeds face when he meets Abby. Not to mention the hope of JJ and McGee hitting it off.

  32. Kenneth on July 16th, 2007 7:45 pm

    NCIS Team!

  33. Katelyn Todd on June 24th, 2008 9:02 pm

NCIS all the way. If I was killed they would be the only ones I trust to catch my killer. Plus Gibbs will scare the living @#$% out of anyone in the interrogation room.
