The Six Degrees of Sonic Youth

Maybe it’s five degrees (depends on how you count it), but here goes…

Sonic Youth

Chuck D from Public Enemy appeared on Sonic Youth’s 1990 song Kool Thing

Public Enemy collaborated with Anthrax on 1991’s Bring Da Noize

Any true Anthrax fan will tell you that one of their career highlights is the song “I am the Law” – A song about Judge Dredd

The Cure performed a special song written for the Judge Dredd film soundtrack. It is called “Dredd Song“.

In 1989 Dinosaur Jr. released a cover of the Cure’s “Just Like Heaven

Dinosaur Junior’s front man, J. Mascis guests in Sonic Youth’s song “My Friend Goo“, coincidentally from the same album Kool Thing came from.

Yeah, I know it’s stretching it a bit with the Judge Dredd thing, but I hope it was fun…

not sure the Dread thing works. If both songs appeared on the same album - I would have gone for it.

At first I went with Anthrax covering Alice Cooper’s 18. But that just got me right back to Sonic Youth covering Alice Cooper’s Is It My Body…Too short, had to come up with something a bit more out there…
