Top 5 Robot Chicken Clips

By: DThompson | in: TV |

Robot Chicken, a 15 minute show animated with puppets and clay, is one of the funniest things you’re ever likely to see. The show mercilessly lampoons public figures and other cartoons but sadly stays away from politicians. The basic idea is that a chicken, run over in the street, is saved by being outfitted with cyborg parts and is now forced by a mad scientist to watch, well, Robot Chicken.

Robot Chicken

If you’re interested in minutae the show was created by Seth Green and Matthew Senerich and named after an actual dish at the Kung Po Bistro. Which, I have to say, doesn’t sound like anything I’ll be ordering soon. Les Claypool sings the theme and if the closing credits sound familiar they’re the muzak from George Romero’s Dawn Of The Dead, clucked out by chickens.
Hey, but who cares about any of that? The bottom line is the show is fast, inventive and most of all funny. You forgive its low budget look and more than occasional lapses into crudity because it’s also amusingly clever, as when it fuses Inspector Gadget with The Terminator and Terminator 2 at the same time. Robot Chicken is violent, profane and definitely not for kids, but it’ll keep you up late laughing.
Robot Chicken has been renewed for a third 20 episode season starting spring 2007, which is basically right now.

Season One is available on DVD. I know, I own it.

Robot Chicken

Picking the “best” of Robot Chicken is a fool’s errand and I ain’t no fool, but in my judgment, the following five clips represent some of the best the show has to offer.
1. Inspector Gadget

2. Giraffe In Quicksand

3. On Drugs

4. Darth Vader Calls

5. Captain Planet!!!

Yeah - great clips. I personally also love “The Neverending Party”.

Another great choice Alibastard, in my search for five good clips I watched about 40 which has to be maybe (rough estimate here) around 7 to 10% of how much Robot Chicken is out there.

On drugs is one of the best one’s I have seen too. The giraffe was the first robot chicken I have seen and I have Googled and pretty much Youtubed the others. I have never seen on drugs though until now. Freakin hilarious.
