The Hourly Radio: Exclusive Plugg Interview (from a Van)
By: Kendall | in: Music |
Our friends in The Hourly Radio, contacted me recently to invite me out to their performance at the House of Blues in Orlando, FL. I took them up on the offer and got them to agree to a video interview. Being the consummate professional I am, I had everything planned out before my arrival. I was going to shoot them in the green room on the couch with myself in the shot, MTV style. Well, the band may have OK’d it, but The House of Blues did not. Apparently it needs to be approved nationally by the chain. I spoke with the guys and let them know I was bringing my gear back to the car, and decided I would do a normal interview inside. Half way to my car, they called back and let me know they would be willing to step outside and do the interview with me. They needed to go to their van so I agreed to do it there. Well, upon setup a car alarm started going off! Between these set-backs and the clock ticking before show time, I decided it might be best to close the band in their van, and interview them from the front seat, pressed against the windshield. Mishaps aside, I present to you the entire unedited interview:
Now I did have a photo pass so I took my measly point and shoot Camera and captured a few live shots of the performance. They outplayed and performed The Stars of Track and Field by a long shot.

Not only did I get some pictures, but I also managed to get a few solid video clips with my handy little Nikon. Enjoy!

Well done Kendall! Kudos for managing to pull it all off at the last moment.
Nice one Kendall!
This is wonderful. Interviews are what separate great blogs from the good blogs - this is a great concept. Very nice.
Thanks Ryan! It helps to have people that will watch or read them!
[…] The Plugg’s First Video Interview w/ The Hourly Radio 6 06 2007 Screew green rooms and approvals by national chains, van interviews are way cooler. In fact, I propose The Plugg Van. One rule: all interviews/live performances are to be conducted, within the space in the backseats. I’ll dare go a step further…I propose The Plugg create an option for donations to buy and pimp up The Plugg Van. I’ll even pledge the first $20 to get this donation going. In return, I request nothing but creative uses of the The Plugg Van and more, more awesome interviews and performances in the future. What do you think? Respond, respond, please! […]
Nice interview. It was worth you going the extra mile.

You should tour festivals and interview bands in ‘The Plugg Van’.
