Le Reno Amps – So For Your Thrills

By: Charbarred | in: Music |

Le Reno Amps portray themselves as “the missing link between Dolly Parton and Pavement”…. Let it sink in for a few seconds, because…well…they sort of are.

Le Reno Amps

Hailing from Glasgow, this four-piece tackles alt-country in a very cheery way. Their second album “So for your Thrills” is packed with sweet 3 minute pop mayhem. The ability to create perfect sustainable albums is a lost art. Where many bands would settle for a couple of strong singles, Le Reno Amps manage to supply the listener with endless feel good, nod your head smiling likable tunes.

All this is done with a simple production that knows how to bring forth the strength of the songwriting. With tasteful accordions, harmonicas and horns dropping in and out, the big asset arrangement-wise is the masterful vocal harmonies. And it’s not the meticulously planned Beach Boys type of harmonies, but rather the effortless slacker sort of harmonies that really drives the album forward.

The album jumps effortlessly from country to punk to rockabilly. At times it sounds like classic Violent Femmes, while at times it really does try to connect the dots between Dolly Parton and Pavement. So for your Thrills has something for everyone. On top of it all, Le Reno Amps are incredible live, so after you buy the album, drop them a line…who knows, they might pay your town a little visit one day.
