The Snake The Cross The Crown

I just got the new album from Alt Americana folk rock band, The Snake The Cross The Crown.
I begun searching the internet to get to know the band a little better and see how I can give them a proper Plugg. Turns out they are represented by Equal Vision Records, which I should probably review soon as they have many great artists on board.
Long story short, their ‘about’ was a long tale of a struggling band living in one apartment with one shower and two cars but, and I guess the bottom line, and probably what they tried to illustrate, is that a lot of thinking and emotion went into this great record. As they put it “The Snake the Cross the Crown played/slept/ate/worried/hoped in a single house for four years”.
Their song Cakewalk sums it up:

“I, I wanna live on the stage,
I wanna play the guitar,
And I wanna get paid.
But no, responsibilities please.
I wanna do what I want,
And I wanna get paid.”

Apparently, they’re on the right track.

Awesome Alt Americana tunes that stand right up there with some of the best records I’ve heard this year. The music and sound are powerful and you don’t lose attention for one second throughout the whole album, which is quite rare seeing as we’re returning to the singles era gradually. I personally like the sadder songs like Cakewalk and Behold the River.

Verdict: Great album to add to your collection.

Behold The River
