I was going to post something on how Virgin Megastores are looking for the next big band to perform in their US stores, but I stumbled on to something far more interesting, Neil Young.

As you probably know already Neil, Willie Nelson and their trusted board members host an annual festival, Farm Aid, to support all the family-farm centered system of agriculture in America. They do an amazing job, since 1985 they’ve raised over 30 million dollars in charity for the families and rocked the hell out of thousands of fans.

This year the line up for the festival will include Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Gregg Allman, The Allman Brothers Band, Counting Crows, Matisyahu, Guster, The Derek Trucks Band, Warren Haynes, Supersuckers, The Ditty Bops and Montgomery Gentry.

And for the first time ever, Farm Aid 2007: A Homegrown Festival will take place at Randall’s Island in New York City. As an added bonus they’ve just announced that Gregg Allman will perform a special acoustic set with Willie Nelson and Dave Matthews.
Farm Aid 2007 is on on September 9th don’t miss a chance to catch one of rocks most interesting concerts and even contribute a little to the struggling farmers of America.

Here a taste from Neil Young back in 1985 doing Hey, Hey, My, My

That’s a great video, Rusty. The only concert film I own is Rust Never Sleeps (if you don’t count the one I have of The Cramps playing some mental hospital), I missed that first Farm Aid so I never knew he played that.
