Through The Wilderness: A Tribute To Madonna

November 27 will see the release of a very interesting covers album. While everyone is gushing about the Bob Dylan movie soundtrack with its plethora of artists that sound like Bob Dylan covering Bob Dylan, Manimal Vinyl Records are doing something quite unique. A roster of top notch indie artists will tackle the one and only Madonna. With highlights such as Giant Drag’s cover to “Oh Father” and The Tyde’s version of “Hung Up” the album sheds a new light on Madonna’s music. Also including Ariel Pink, Lavender Diamond and many more excellent artists, the CD will be available on iTunes and from this web site in the end of the month. A special vinyl edition will also see the light on the 28th of January.

As long as Madonna doesn’t contribute any vocals to the tribute collection, I may pick it up.

It would be sweet to hear Everclear cover “Ray Of Light”
Too sweet for it to actually happen, no doubt.

Why would you want to hear Everclear do Ray of Light?

    I second D’s suggestion!

Are you callin’ me out Charbarred?
Because Ray Of Light is a catchy uptempo song that features a lot more guitar than your average Madonna tune so I thought Everclear, being a a band that produces catchy uptempo guitar rock could probably do a really wailin’ version of it. I guess I could be wrong…

And you never said what you thought about my zomwolf trilogy.
I’ve been working on retitling the middle film.
What do you think is better?
Zombie Werewolves II - Slaughter On Wolfsbane Island
    or
Zombie Werewolves II - Baron Von Lycanthrope’s Castle Of The Howling Damned
Well? You’re holding up production dude!

What zomwolf trilogy? Did I miss an email or are you eating that green stuff that grows on the sides of the windows when it’s wet again?

  8. DThompson on November 5th, 2007 12:31 pm

    1) What I eat off my windows has nothing to do with this, “Free salad” has no halucinogenic effects!
    2) I refer to comments made and responses unanswered on the ‘Horror Briefs: Vampires Vs. Zombies’ post.
    3) I have to say your public disavowal of my zomwolf trilogy is very disappointing. I need to raise a million bucks or so and you saying, “What zomwolf trilogy?” isn’t exactly getting the green backs to flood in.

Damnit, You made me look up disavowal!
    1. You may think it has no halucinogenic effects, but check out your last three articles
    2. You are right, I am an ass, I never did answer you…Baron Von Lycanthrope’s Castle Of The Howling Damned is the true winner, although you might wanna work the word revenge into it somehow, it’s a classic
    3. Well I kinda answered 2 and 3 in 2 so there you have it
    :-)
