Army Defense - Stratocaster Upon Avon

A while back we reported on a band named Army Defense that recorded a song for each country in the world. That was quite an ambitious project that was done extremely well. Instead of taking a rest, the folks at Army Defense decided to swiftly move on to their next project. Stratocaster Upon Avon presents us with a song for every Shakespeare play and sonnet (that’s 42 tracks!). Again, the guys cover every possible sub-genre rock has to offer and even pay tribute to Hamlet with a rap. The album is available completely free for download, and is quite impressive.

I can’t say that this wins best album of the year. But I will say, that this is one helluva undertaking, and my hat is off to these fine folks. Anyone who can put together a concept record like this deserves a round of applause.

I think they put it together in less than a year.

Maybe their next album can be a song for each position in the Karma Sutra, talk about an album of love songs. It is always interesting to see what can motivate people to create. My hat, if I had one, would be off to these guys.

I curse you, charbarred. I curse you for bringing this band up yet again. But mostly, I curse you because I’ve spent the past two days downloading this album. And now I remember ‘77 World Tour’. Let’s see, 191 songs at approximately 5 minutes per download is about 16 hours, and then there’s still the Presidential Album, and the movie album and the sitcom album. Oh yes, I curse you.

You see, you should have gone the political way. Basically just download the tracks of the countries you like or would like to visit. I ended up downloading only 3 tracks :-)
But seriously, I was sent the 10-disc box set for 77 World Tour so that was a major shortcut…

I’ve made a very nice (If I do say so myself, and I do)three disc set of Stratocaster Upon Avon for an English teacher I work with.
I curse your ten disc box set. ;)
