Top 10 Gig Posters 2007
By: Rustycat | in: Design, General, Music |
One year ago right after we launched The Plugg I wrote about my favorite hobby of collecting Gig Posters and it turned out to be a very successful post. So, I’ve decided to follow up and see what’s new in the indie art world.
Gig Posters are now one of the most popular art forms of idolizing your favorite bands. Every time a band goes on tour, an artist is chosen for each city to create the Gig Poster. Those same posters are then numbered in limited edition prints and sold directly on the artists’ websites.
Here are the top 10 still available prints out there of some of our favorite bands:
Animal Collective by Aesthetic Apparatus
Band of Horses by Ben Wilson 15$

Queens of the Stone Age by Patent Pending 25$

The Raconteurs by Animal Rummay (Rob Jones) Coming soon..

The New Pornographers by Hero Design Studio 25$

Of Montreal by Delicious Design 20$

The Flaming Lips by Field of Gravity 35

Elliott Smith Memorial Concert by Option-G 20$

Bright Eyes by Dirty Dozen 30EUR

Two Gallants by Guy Burwell 20$

No doubt some cool stuff there. I especially like the Animal Collective poster with its intestines for legs approach.
It’s also a good investement if you can’t afford traditional art. The posters are limited edition and numbered meaning they’ll be worth more once they run out.
good post.
