Secretly Canadian Signs Bodies of Water

It’s all about momentum for Bodies of Water, both music-wise and career-wise.
Married couple David Metcalf and Meredith Arthur started out recording David’s songs in their closet at home and after four long years of practising and showcasing their music while touring with the likes of The GO! Team and Dead Oceans’ Phosphorescent last year they’ve managed to break out of their closet and in to our homes.
They’ve recently released their first full length album, ‘Ears Will Pop & Eyes Will Blink‘ which was only available to buy in shows and on their website and Secretly Canadian, one of our favorite indie labels, has signed them on to their awesome roster of artists. The album will be re-released and available worldwide on December 4th and talks of a follow-up album to come some time in the Spring of 2008.

Listening to their song ‘I Guess I’ll Forget The Sound, I Guess, I Guess’ sums it all up. It’s all about waiting for the song to take you on an exciting journey. Their melodies and vocals remind me of the 60’s when music was all about the music. I love their sound for this track, the guitar atmosphere sounds like a Rusty Neil Young track from Sleeps with Angels whilst the song has its unique indie sound that’s right up there with the likes of The New Pornographers and Rilo Kiley.
From what I’ve heard so far off this track and off their MySpace page ‘Ears Will Pop & Eyes Will Blink‘ is a true find. One of those rare indie treasures just waiting to be discovered.
