Website Review: ApolloAudio.com

ApolloAudio.com

After our recent article on MP3’s and vinyl, I received an email from a music artist promoter with a few comments.  One of the things she made sure to point out to me was a site called Apollo Audio.  The goal of the site is to let both major and independent artists post their music online for free listening. There are currently about 150 albums or so readily available. There is nothing to download, as the site uses a flash player to play albums, making the albums streamed and not downloadable. We tried to reach Apollo Audio to gain some insight on the site, how it was started, and by whom, but couldn’t find a way to reach them.

An excerpt from their site sums up the experience pretty well:
“We’re not going to put anything in genres for you, or provide you with anyone else’s opinion about the music — we hope that you’ll imagine you’re in the record store (remember those?) browsing through the records, shopping with your eyes…”

If you would like to purchase the albums you preview, links are provided on many with many of the albums to let you purchase the music on vinyl. If you sign up for their vinyl services, you will also be sent a 192 kbps version of the album for your personal music player use.

After spending hours upon hours randomly choosing albums (some LP’s, some EP’s) it will continue to amaze listeners at how many great albums can be dug up.  If you are a music junkie, constantly on the look for new listens, this is tremendous tool.  Enjoy!
