Iglu and Hartly
By: Kendall | in: Music |
Recently a lot of time has been put into pursuing bands playing the ginormous SXSW music festival. With 600 some bands there are a lot to go through. There is the typical list of BIG names, and of course the excitement of the Buzzbands. One should not overlook the unsigned bands, and up-and-comers. One of the bands that seemed to be relatively unknown, yet titillating is Iglu and Hartly. It’s blatantly happy synth pop that seems to revel in it’s 90’s pop heritage. There is real bass, guitars and drums, so don’t let it fool you into thinking that they aren’t a band. They are, and they are fun. Almost a little too fun I suspect for most, but if you need a healthy break from over-pretentious bands this could be a welcome break, if not a guilty pleasure. Be ready for the white boy rap just to tie it all together.
