Song of the Week - March 21
By: Charbarred | in: Music |
Every other week each of our writers shares the song that made his/her week just a little bit brighter.
Lee H
Ruin My Day by Steve Dawson
I sent this song to my ex. She cried. Score one for me.
D Thompson
Ring Road by Underworld
Underworld’s been around for a while, first putting out the quirky single “Doot Doot” back in the day and then shedding members through the nineties until arriving as a duo in the present day. Their latest single, Ring Road, has a real Wild Kingdom vibe to it and I like the way its lyrics are nothing more than spoken word stream of consciousness strings. It’s a view from a train.
Charbarred
Tesselate by Tokyo Police Club
I’m just glad there are bands out there that are still writing fast catchy tunes that aren’t bullshit. And their new album is soooo good!
Kendall
Friends Like These by Mobius Band
With recent album Heaven out, Mobius Band seems to have found their stride. A little less childlike than the last album, this was the first track I had heard off the album and is a great introduction to the band if you haven’t heard them before.
RustyCat
The Whole Wide World by Wreckless Eric
This song is from the original soundtrack from Stranger than Fiction. I watched the film for the second time this week and the scene where Will Ferrell tells Maggie Gyllenhaal that he only knows one song on his guitar and starts jamming this track is probably one of the best scenes I’ve seen all year. By the way it’s a must see movie, if you’ve never seen it.
So what’s your song of the week?

Lee, you’re an evil genius
Yeah… I pretty much think Tokyo Police Club is amazing.
Mom always said “try to be the best at whatever you do.”
Wow Rusty, that Wreckless Eric song is really good.
And Lee, your song is so MEAN. I love it!
Great songs this week guys! I’m not sure what one I like the best but I am leaning towards Lee’s song not only because of the song but the fine use it was put to. In the spirit of sharing here goes. I chose this song because the lead singer looks like a old friend of mine, a drag-queen who can light up the stage like a motherfucker. Its funny how our childhood friends turn out. This ones for you Rob!
