White Whale Records Releases Culture Reject
By: Rustycat | in: Music |Last July I wrote about White Whale Records and two of their amazing artists Octoberman and Mohawk Lodge which I can’t stop listening to this day. I just received word of a new album they released lately – Culture Reject.
For me, and I think I said this a few time before, it’s all about the label. If I find a small indie label which signs artists I can relate to, then I stay loyal and open minded to all newcomers in the future. It’s like following a band you really like. That being said, it’s rare that the labels stay on track musically all the time. White Whale Records seems to target a specific sound and genre and focus on it. From a business point of view, I think it’s the best thing for a small label to target one type of audience and remain consistent in new releases rather than building new crowds and fan bases in different locations worldwide.
So here’s to White Whale records for signing another great act to their label and giving us Culture Reject which is basically a one man show of the Toronto based Michael O’Connell. I’ll let the music speak for itself on this one.
