Frank Miller the Spirit

Frank Miller who recently brought us Sin City and 300 is at it again. Just before we’ll see the releases of Sin City 2 and 3 which he’s been hard at work on, comes The Spirit, a tale of a rookie cop who is brutally murdered and mysteriously brought back to life, only to assume the role of The Spirit (Gabriel Macht), a masked crime fighter who prowls the shadows of Central City on a supernatural mission to keep the urban landscape safe.

Here’s the new teaser:

Starring: Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jaime King, Eva Mendes and Paz Vega.

The Spirit

Coming January 16th 2009

What a weird trailer. Looks very much like Sin City and very much like a cartoon.

An interesting update, considering The Spirit is a strip Eisner did in the 40’s. I always thought The Spirit bore more than a superficial similarity to The Shadow, though I don’t really see that in this trailer.
