This Weekend, All Weekend: The Anova Sessions on VIRV Indie Music TV
By: Rustycat | in: Music |
I’m really happy to be a part of VIRV TV, probably the most exciting online initiative happening lately…for the indie music fans among us, that is.
VIRV TV has been up and running for the past few months broadcasting 24 hours a day, high resolution videos by the likes of Silversun Pickups, Arcade Fire, Bright Eyes, Spoon, Of Montreal, M.Ward, and Xiu Xiu.
On the 21st of April the VIRV street team went out to film a musical event in Tel Aviv, Israel which will be broadcast all weekend, this weekend on VIRV TV. The event was the official launch of the most prominent up-and-coming indie label Israel has seen in the past few years, Anova Music.
Here’s a deeper look at Anova Music’s talented bunch and videos from the live concert. Don’t forget to tune in to www.virv.tv this weekend and watch The Anova Sessions live!
Rockfour:
One of Israel’s most legendary bands presents a fantastic combination of psychedelic rock and power-pop. Rockfour has been around since 1994 and in 2000 their album “Supermarket” was chosen on Rolling Stone’s magazine ’album of the year’ chart. In 2002 they opened for Blondie and Dave Matthew Band and released “One Fantastic Day” with the new pop-psych label Rainbow Quartz. In 2007 together with Anova Music they released “Memories Of The Never Happened” which was distributed in the US by Cooking Vinyl.
EatLiz:
Eatliz are one of those strange success stories of a cult band, that’s been around for more than six years. With no proper single releases or albums they managed to build a strong, solid and loyal fan base. Their musical styles hold the unique never-been-used-before genre of “Complicated Pop”. In 2007 the band released their much anticipated debut album “Violently Delicate” with Anova Music.
Noa Babayof:
With subtle folk melodies, Noa reminds me of a young Joan Baez or even Joni Mitchell. Anova Music released “From A Window To A Wall” locally in fall 2007 while a US release is planned on June 17 2008 with Language Of Stone.
Amit Erez:
Amit Erez is one of Israel’s most important alternative rock musicians. Born in 1980, Amit adopted the guitar very quickly and started to practice his skills. Amit’s influences are somewhat a bizarre combo of metal music and intimate singer/songwriters like Elliott Smith with a touch of dark Eighties (Joy Division, Minimal Compact).
