A Breath of Spring Air: The Shield, The Sopranos and Entourage

Enough is enough.
This year’s fall season wasn’t all that bad. Lost is making headway and showing us a few new tricks. The Class turned out to be pretty funny after all. The Apprentice is one my favorite shows and Prison Break might even end up interesting after all. Dirt is turning out to be the darkest drama on TV and, of course, Heroes is having a knock out season. But some of our favorite shows have really gone down a slippery slope. 24 is competing for the ‘most boring TV season ever written’ award. Survivor is just plain dull, and I completely stopped watching Jericho and their crusade to save the town. Really – who cares?! USA is under nuclear attack, I could care less if your sister’s brother had some beef with you a few years back. Get over it.
But the upside is that we’re in for a new spring season of our favorite shows like The Sopranos, Entourage and The Shield.
What’s to come?

entourage

Entourage: It’s go time for one of my ‘top three actors of the season‘, Ari Gold. At the end of season three part 1 we found E and Vince firing Ari’s sorry ass for loosing them the deal of a lifetime on the Ramones flick. I’m guessing Ari will probably convince the guys to take him back, but it’ll be a tough one, he’s gotta get them a knock out film first. What’s sure is that we’ll be seeing a lot of hot girls, cool toys and ‘What’s Hollywood Really Like‘ on the second part of the third season. I can’t wait!

Sopranos

Sopranos: Eight more episodes to go. By June we will eventually find out the fate of our beloved gangster role model Mr. Tony Soprano. Will he end up in a jail cell? I think not. David Chase was quoted saying that jail is much too mild for a psychotic character like Tony Soprano. I think we’re in for quite a ride, many twists and dark moody episodes. You can read a review of the first two episodes on MSNBC.

The Shield

The Shield: The plot thickens for our favorite strike team led by Vic Mackey. If you remember the end of the fifth season, we found Shane murdering Lem because he suspected he was going to give them up to internal affairs. Vic vowed to find and execute Lem’s killer not knowing that he’s standing right next to him. On the sixth season the tension mounts up as the IA investigation, led by Forest Whitaker, kicks into gear while Shane is doing all kinds of illegal activities and the newly appointed captain (CCH Pounder) is doing her best to keep up with some of the most brutal murders to date. Will Vic finally pay the price for all his sins? Will Shane be discovered? Will Forest Whitaker win the Emmy as well as the Oscar? I think so. It’s going to be one hell of a season, I can feel it.

Way to connect the dots to other articles.

Yeah, Rusty, sort of like that scene in “Being John Malkovich” where Malkovich goes into his own head. Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich, MALKOVICH!

Either Tony or Christopher has to die a miserable death. I’d go with Christopher cuz Tony’s brush with death last season would make it laughable if it previewed his ultimate demise. The parallel life thing was just too awesome for me, by the way. Anyway, I want to see a resolution to Arty’s (Artie?) character for some reason.
Let’s stay Tony is meant to die. It will either be by or because of Christopher or Bobby. Ah, Bobby! Bobby and Janice will live. Carmela will live. Paulie is torn with all the mommy stuff. Maybe Paulie kills someone within the ‘family’ or maybe he is whacked out by episode 3 or 4.
Why would Christopher? Why would Bobby? Both are weak links. Christopher wants to do the Hollywood thing and Bobby just wants to be left alone.

But….what the hell do I know? The show’s ending could be so bizarre that it would have us scratching our heads and going, ‘whaaaa?’ Just don’t have AJ wake up and find out it was all a dream. Or Tony side with the FBI to destroy everyone else to save his ass and move to Florida…or France. I shudder to think.

Again, I think went a little too far on this with my predictions. If you’ve read this far, my apologies for taking 5 minutes of your time you could’ve spent on YouTube.

I completely agree Emon, they have to come up with a really original way to end it all.
Definitely betting Christopher and Paulie get whacked though…

This is a great article yet I must protest! Lost is doing more than showing us a few new tricks, it remains the most interesting, thought-provoking, spectacularific show on network television for the third year in a row. Heroes is definitely coming on, but can it extend its appeal beyond the first season?

Come on D, I’m also a big fan, but you have to admit that the season started off a little weak. It’s only in the last few episode that it’s really picking up. I hope it stays that way. Last year it seemed that toward the end of the season they kept buying time with pointless back stories and needless drama. It seems that they’re in the right direction though…

Ya, the story about the couple being buried alive…nice episode but for SEASON 1.
