Apprentice Turned Survivor

By: Rustycat | in: TV |

Seems these days it takes a hell of a lot more than a Harvard Masters Degree to get a job at Trump’s organization. One way of getting in the front door is if you were his hot young daughter, but I guess you won’t actually need a job then. The other way around would include sleeping in a tent, fighting for your life and selling your soul for a kind smile from the Donald.

Apprentice

The sixth season of Apprentice kicked off with two exquisite episodes. Trump set the bar even higher on this season that takes place in the Hollywood hills, as opposed to the previous New York seasons, and presents a whole new concept – a tent. For those who missed the first two episodes, the losing team not only loses a team member but also sleeps in the backyard while the winning team rallies around the mansion. Wait, I’m confused, am I watching Survivor, do I have to have survivor outdoor skills to run a multi billion dollar corporation, Am I competing to be Andy Dick’s assistant? Come on Trump, who are you kidding?!

But I have to admit it does spice things up a bit and sets the tension higher throughout the episode, bringing the best out of the losing team, while appealing to the viewers’ sympathy for the underdog. Good call, probably on Mark Burnet’s behalf, keeps the teams and the viewers on their feet.

The show kicked off with strong contenders. From a viewer’s point of view there are some great characters to connect with. Even if you’re not a big business reality show buff, I suggest you tune in to the sixth season; it has a lot of reality TV hooks that’ll keep you guessing throughout.

The new setting and Trump’s sidekick replacement is quite refreshing, although it seems as if his daughter isn’t quite the TV personality as her father is. But let’s give her a few more episodes to improve before we fire her.

All in all, and even though the second episode was a bit weak, it’s turning out to be a good season and I look forward to finding out what happens next.

Good job Trump, you’re not fired!
