CocoRosie - God Has a Voice, She Speaks Through Me video

By: Kendall | in: Music |

Cocorosie

CocoRosie is an American musical duo formed by sisters Sierra Rose Casady (”Rosie”) and Bianca Leilani Casady (”Coco”) in 2003. Bianca sings and manipulates various children’s toys/electronic & percussion instruments. Their estranged mother, a teacher and artist, would compulsively move the girls across the country from one state to another. Their estranged father traveled around the US teaching in Steiner Waldorf, and was involved in Shahmanism and Peyote Religion. Sierra and Bianca spent their summers hiking from reservation to reservation with their father. - from Wikipedia.

That being said CocoRosie have come out with a new video, that would do peyote religious folks proud. The song itself is filled with vocoded and shrill vocals, and all kinds of lo-fi techno-ish sounds, and influences from all corners of the world. It’s definitely worth a watch and listen.

Watching this reminds me of my freshman year in college, when I’d do any drug that got handed to me. In fact, most of my memories of that year look and sound just like this.

Sounds like you’re lucky to have any memories from that era :-)

This is a really good tune, I’ll seek some more of these out. Is it just me, or does 1:10 - 1:20 remind anyone of the cover of the Happy Mondays’ album ‘Bummed’?

I am, Charbarred. I fell asleep floating in a swimming pool.

I only knew CocoRosie’s Terrible Angels prior to this. Let me just say that this tune is sooo much better, trippy weirdness and all.

    …oh yeah, I’m loving this tune. :D

This is why I love music. The fringes refine and reuse technology to express individuality.

If only everybody cared, everybody tolerated, everybody loved.

    Peace.
