I might be too “White and Nerdy”, but I can sure as hell vouch for Weird Al Yankovic as the funniest musician in the world.Weird Al Yankovic

Check this out, Weird Al has been producing comedy hits for three decades! Most musicians don’t last three years, especially the parody ones. I have to give him credit when it comes to seeing something through to the end; he nailed the concept and rolled with it. 28 Gold and Platinum albums, 7 Gold and Platinum-certified home videos and 3 Grammy awards (with 9 nominations). He’s also an award winning music video director in his spare time working with artists such as Ben Folds, Jeff Foxworthy, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Black Crowes and many more.
His new album “Straight Outta Lynwood”, delivers all the goods. In this epic album Al takes on artists such as Green Day, Usher, Taylor Hicks and R. Kelly’s 11 minute theatrical story. We all remember Weird Al likes polka, he even had a whole album themed “Polka Party”. This time around, with the track “Polkarama”, he goes all out with a polka medley of the latest hits. Funny shit.
“Don’t Download This Song”, set to original music inspired by the celebrity-driven charity benefit songs from the 80’s, is a take on all the MP3 piracy issue. It was, I want to say ironically, but I’m going to say - obviously, given as a free download on Weird Al’s website and MySpace page.
I’m always happy to see Weird Al Yankovic hit the charts and get some credit for his witty take on today’s music. Good album to own if you feel like the occasional laugh.
