KetaKeta: Ever Wondered Where Viral Videos Come From?

By: Rustycat | in: General, Technology |

Jeff Pulver, a true pioneer in VOIP technology and a leader pf the TV on net revolution, was kind enough to invite me and Lior to his summer party.Truth is, I didn’t really know Jeff before last night so I thought I was in for a quick drink with 100 or so internet TV buffs. When I got there, I realized I’m attending the Internet event of the summer. Long story short – free drinks, lots of sushi and close to 1500 internet and technology entrepreneurs.

I have my work cut out for me sifting through all the interesting companies I met. I’m sure to “Plugg” some of them in the future.

One of the companies that really caught my eye was Keta Keta. What an interesting company. You hear stories all the time of a funny video that made it through viral marketing to ten million people and you get all those links and files in the mail but you never take time to look at the people behind it all.

There are people behind it?

You didn’t really think that all these funny spoofs are made by private individuals? Most of them are tailor made by professionals pushing some agenda and I’m good with it as long as it’s amusing! Keta Keta is a company that produces internet adverts (funny ones) and unleashes them on the net. The target audience is everyone.

Let me give you an example, the next video was launched a couple of months ago. Watch it first:

This silly commercial for Israel has 30 million views to date, worldwide, and the guys at KetaKeta are sure it will reach 30 more by the end of the year. That’s what I call advertising. So if you’re ever in need of a good marketing stunt track these guys down, they do an amazing job. Maybe they should do one for The Plugg – maybe with a hot chick in it…

You can check out all their clips on their website www.KetaKeta.com. Here are a few highlights:

[...] Behind the Viral Videos 15 06 2007 We watch them everyday, email them to friends and - so we don’t die a miserable death- to 20 strangers, and embed it on our sites. According to The Plugg, these viral videos have more to them than meets the YouTube. [...]

I don’t think they made half these clips at all, unless by made they mean they saw a funny show on tv and recorded it and put it on the internet.
To be honest they’re just trying to get some attention for their lame ads by taking credit for other peoples work.
