New Song For Keren Ann: Lay Your Head Down
By: Charbarred | in: Music |French chanteuse Keren Ann has just debuted a new song on her MySpace page. It’s a lighter affair than her usual broodiness (don’t expect Madonna style pop, everything is relative). The production on ‘Lay Your Head Down’ is pure class featuring cellos, hand claps, voice samples, harmonicas and an amazing guitar. It brings to mind some of her rockier tunes like Sailor & Widow.
If you’re not familiar with this incredible artist, you should head down to the shop and pick up her previous albums ‘Not Going Anywhere’ or ‘Nolita’. Contrary to label mate Norah Jones’s cheesy take on light Jazz, Keren Ann is the real deal. Echoing Mazzy Star and Nico, she is not to be missed. Her new self titled album will be released in Europe on April 23rd, and U.S & Canada on May 8th.

Keren Ann is magic; she is “strawberry laughter in orange October” and she is all that makes us know we are alive even when we feel we are dying. Thank you, Keren Ann, just for being you. I met you, once, and couldn’t even talk. No one dead could feel so much as I feel when I am listening to your music. Thanks for waking the dead. I thought I was dead.
Love from across the miles and years.
Thumbs up - really love her stuff.
