Preview the new Morrissey tune All You Need Is Me
By: Mozzer | in: Music |
This is sheer fanboyism on my part, but I was excited to see and hear the yet-to-be-released tune “All You Need Is Me“. Morrissey’s in fine form, and the song appears to be throwback to his ‘Your Arsenal‘ days. He ends it with the prophetic refrain “You’re going to miss me when I’m gone”, and I certainly hope that day is not anytime soon. As for the performance, it’s guitar heavy and upbeat. I feel he’s got a fantastic single on his hands.
The video is from Last Call with Carson Daly. Recorded October 10th, and originally broadcast October 12, 2007.

I was never a big fan of The Smiths, but Morrissey is growing on me with his last few albums. This song simply rocks! Thanks for sharing it Moz.
He’s shed his “woe is me” mopiness from his early years and has become so much better because of it.
That’s right…but I think the main issue I had with the Smiths was Johnny Marr’s guitars…I know people say he’s a genius, but I never liked his style.
It’s great to see a musician get better with time. A lot of great musicians tend to regurgitate their old material or just lose whatever it was that made them great in the first place. Morrissey sounds like he’s just getting started.
Johnny Marr has smoothed out Modest Mouse’s sound a bit. I think he is a good fit. They were traveling down that road before he joined in.
Thanks for this! The last time I saw Morrissey was the Your Arsenal tour and the last album I bought was Southpaw Grammar. I’m not sure why I stopped paying attention to him but I think it’s time I checked out some of his newer stuff
