It’s nice to occasionally discover a great band from all the emails and wanders through the net.

The Foundry Field Recordings have a way of growing on you from listen to listen. Like every great alternative band such as ‘Built to Spill’, ‘Mogwai’, ‘My Morning Jacket’, you form a relationship which slowly emerges into a wonderful music experience you’ll never forget. We listen to so much music these days, giving new bands a one minute listen on some blog and not actually taking the time to familiarize ourselves with their works. It’s actually ok because we can’t sit and listen to music all day, we rely on quick guitar hooks and melodic vocals to pass our filtering system but then we can’t bitch to our friends how it’s impossible to discover REALLY good bands.
Well, I took the time with The Foundry Field Recordings and gave them several listens and discovered warm guitars, heartfelt vocals, nostalgic themes and a whole lot of that Shoegazing Charbarred was talking about earlier.

Their first album, after three years of collecting recordings and experimenting as a band once named Billy Schuh and the Foundary, came out last October - Prompts/Miscues was its title. I love this description from Amazon: “An album fluid with picturesque places and serrated emotions. An authentic cognitive snapshot of a forgotten memory recalled via music alone. Lovely shoe-gaze pop, resonating with strategic feedback and dance-worthy hooks.” Nice!
Their new three-song EP named ‘Digital EP’ (available on Insound.com) previews a few songs from their upcoming, “Fallout Stations” coming our way sometime in the near summer. From these three amazing melodies all we are left with is anticipation of a wonderful album soon to hit our stereos.
