The Inbox: Immaculate Machine, Leopold and his Fiction, Tarwater and Nurses

By: Charbarred | in: Music |

Our inbox has been filling up with all kinds of goodies, and it’s time we let you know about them….

Immaculate Machine

Immaculate Machine
Immaculate Machine is readying their new album ‘Fables’. Filled with great harmonies, erratic drums and kick ass guitars, Fables shows great promise. The album is described as “an open-ended series of vignettes based on the idea that our lives are stories”, and features Kathryn Calder of The New Pornographers. Get ready for it, June 12th.

Leopold and his Fiction

Leopold and his Fiction

San Francisco duo Leopold and his Fiction sent us a couple really awesome tracks. They have a cool bluesy rock n’ roll feel that many bands lack nowadays. If I had to compare, I’d say a cross between Kings of Leon and the White Stripes, but more importantly they sound like the great rock bands of the old days. Their self titled album is out now.

Tarwater

Tarwater

Tarwater make beautiful electronic music. As opposed to many electro outfits that concern themselves mainly with beeps and blips, the East German duo really has a kin sense of melody and composition. Their new album “Spider Smile” is out now on Morr Music and really deserves a listen.

Tarwater: A Marriage in Belmont

Nurses

Nurses

California’s Nurses have recorded a very unique album. It covers a wide gamut of musical styles and gives modern rock a firm kick in the ass. With challenging song lyrics and even more challenging music, their album Hangin’ Nothin’ But Our Hands Down merits some serious attention.

Great finds, Char. My absolute favorites are Nurses and Immaculate Machine, the latter owning some vocal intonations strangely akin to Big Country (remember them?) — tho with music that truly kicks ass.

I went back and listen to a few of them again and Leopold and his fiction sounds kinda like Robert Plant, am I the only one getting that vibe?

    Nurses was very Cure-esque.

That Immaculate Machine track is really catchy. Nothing like a catchy pop song.
