Top Three TV Actors of the Season

By: Rustycat | in: TV |

Once or twice a season an amazing actor will achieve maximum potential and wow us viewers winning our trust, support and loyalty. We’re accustomed to great actors and wild directing these days but it’s often rare to see an actor outdo himself and just pop out of the screen and slap us on the face. Great actors are seriously hard to find.

Let’s take a look at three actors that really spiced things up this season:

 Ian Hart

Ian Hart aka Don Konkey from Dirt.
Ian portrays Lucy Spiller’s long time friend, a functioning schizophrenic and a paparazzi genius. Don’s character is well played; I guess he sets the tone for the entire series; you can see it when the director chooses to put his character in the focus of events. It often happens in television series where one actor shines above everyone and steals the show.
Ian was born in England, began acting while a student in Liverpool, England. He stumbled into acting almost accidentally, but was cast in the play “The Government Inspector”. He continued to work in British theater and television, and first gained recognition for portraying John Lennon in the British film ‘Backbeat (1995)’. Ian has since appeared on many British and American films and is currently associated with the Harry Potter franchise.
I think we’ll be seeing a whole lot of him soon on the Hollywood screens; he’s a true acting genius.

Jeremy Piven

Jeremy Piven aka Ari Gold from Entourage.
You probably know this by now, but Jeremy Piven gives the performance of a lifetime on Entourage. Jeremy is no stranger to the big screen and has made tons of great movies including his last performance on ‘Aces High’, an action packed killing spree. But I think we can find Jeremy at his best playing the money driven, foul mouth Hollywood agent with no conscience.
Born in Manhattan and raised in Evanston, Illinois, he is an alumnus of the Piven Theatre Workshop founded by his parents (Byrne Piven and Joyce Hiller Piven) and a one time Chicago stage actor.

Syler

Zachary Quinto aka Syler from Heroes.
I know this last pick is a bit premature, but I spot the potential, trust me on this one, Zachary is an amazing actor and his role on Heroes proves it.
As Syler, the creepy serial killer, Zachary manages to play an evil mastermind with no conscience. What makes him so good at it is his ability to put on a poker face and become this loveable naïve guy every time he’s trying to fool someone. At those times even I, the viewer, start to believe him.
Zachary tried his luck on many TV shows like 24, CSI and guest performances on Crossing Jordan, Six Feet Under, Charmed, Joan of Arcadia and many more, but I guess he never caught his break and found the perfect role. Well, he has now. We’ll be seeing some great acting from him on Heroes (if Petrelli doesn’t kill him) and probably on many new projects.

I agree with the Jeremy Piven pick. I don’t watch the rest of the shows mentioned in the post

The Zachary Quinto is an odd choice, but it’s true, he is a great actor. For some reason he reminds me of the guy who starred in Quantum Leap

Zachary Quinto does an awesome job as the evil Syler. I’m not familiar with any of his other work, but I’m impressed with this character.

I haven’t seen him too much either except for a brief encounter on ‘24′, but I think he’s one of the season’s best.

When the actor makes the charactor believable in the eyes of the viewer, then that ability makes him good. And Quinto can make you hate him in one moment and at least make you wonder about him the next. I agree totally.
The Quantum Leap actor is/was Scot Bakula and he made us believe his charactor in each episode even when he “leaped” into a pregnant woman. I, also don’t watch the other shows you mentioned.

A definite on Ian Hart and Zachary Quinto. Awesome performances.

Don Konkey is definitely my favorite character on t.v. right now. Ian Hart not only steals the show but deserves recognition for his great portrayal of a “functioning” schizophrenic. I also love Jeremy Piven as Ari. He’s perfect in that role. And Quinto does do a good job as a normal, even geeky looking guy who’s really evil. Great article!

I think Ian Hart is giving one of the best performances on TV right now. He’s been given a truly unique and different character to play and steals every scene he’s in. My hope is that Dirt is renewed for another season and that Hart gets the recognition he deserves

Ian Hart is simply wonderful and he has my vote for the best actor on any program this year. I hope (along with everyone else) that Dirt is renewed for a second season because Don Konkey is my absolute favorite character on television.

Quinto is apparently weeks away from being confirmed as Spock in the new Trak movie. Go Zach!

Hart and Piven are ludicrously good :)
