Up-and-Comer Lucie Treacher

By: Mozzer | in: Music |

Recently, I had the great fortune of stumbling upon up-and-comer Lucie Treacher.

Lucie Treacher

One listen was all it took to captivate me. Having only played guitar for about two years, she’s quickly become an accomplished singer-songwriter. Hailing from Scotland, Treacher comes from a family with a musical background — Both parents are musicians, and her grandfather once gave voice lessons to a then-unknkown Elton John. Her own voice is reminiscent of Norah Jones and KT Tunstall with maybe a dash of Avril. Treacher’s dynamic range easily moves from angelic tenderness to soulful growls. Upon listening, the self-assured vocals and songwriting certainly do belie her tender age of twelve years — yes, TWELVE. Blown away? I thought so.

The official site offers some great demos, and 2 additional tracks can also be streamed on MySpace. With a debut album recorded and pending release, I feel this budding talent is on the cusp of worldwide recognition.

Dude, 12? Her voice is almost fully matured, mind blowing, i think we’ll be hearing more from young miss Lucie.

He voice is incredible, hard to believe she’s so young. Saying that, I saw footage of Christina Aguillera singing at 10 and her voice was not much different than it is now.

On a more serious note, while her voice does sound amazing, I must admit I’ve always been skeptical at talent this young, in particular when it comes to song writing. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I still believe the majority of good art comes from strife and complications and disappointment. And really, what kind of life lessons does a 12 year old have to offer? But again, she’s does have an amazing voice and the potential here is enormous!

Her songwriting may not be mozart, but c’mon, she’s 12! Even in my advanced age, I’ve yet to learn guitar; let alone write a solitary song.

She’s an amazing talent no matter how you look at it.

    Wow.

Great voice. It doesn’t matter how old she is. It matters she has talent. There are plenty of singers/songwriters younger, or way older, than her who suck.
Remember the singer from the movie ‘The Commitments’? If you had to judge him by the way he sang you’d think he’s 50. He was 16. Great film if you haven’t seen it. Google ‘Try A Little Tenderness’ and The Commitments.

Now that I have had a chance to listen I have to say that I do not like it. Her voice is to “cracky” for my tastes.
