We’re very excited to announce the public beta release of YouLicense, the online music licensing marketplace.

We’ve been a part of the YouLicense team for quite some time now and are really keen on seeing how a new licensing marketplace will affect the music industry. The idea is to give Indie Artists, Writers, Producers, Publishers, Labels, and any other music owner a place on the web where they can present their music for licensing.

Whether you’re looking to license music for Film-TV, Advertising, Mobile, Web, Audio Recordings or any other use, use our unique search engine to find and license the music you need directly from the music owner!

Opening an account is absolutely free. And unlike other platforms or brokers YouLicense only charges a 9% commission after the artist has sold their license.

On a personal note, I think the music industry is rapidly changing and it’s due time the music owners start earning money from licensing their content for all kinds of new uses (especially on the web), rather then see their song being played a hundred times and not make a dime off it. We’ve all figured out by now that downloads are unavoidable - users want free music and they’re going to get it somehow. If the music owners are smart they’ll find a way to secure deals (ie licenses) with the same businesses that are enabling these “all you can eat” download sites or any other platform. And that’s where YouLicense comes in.
